Eligibility
To qualify for the Fare Assist Program, applicants must:
- live in the City of Hamilton.
- receive assistance from Ontario Works (OW) or the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP)
OR
has a family income which falls below the current Statistics Canada Low-Income Measurement (LIM) for their family size.

Apply online at https://specialsupportsbenefits.hamilton.ca/. An account is required. The form can also be downloaded from the website and emailed or mailed in. Paper applications can be obtained by calling 905-546-2590.
Applicants need to attach:
- a copy of identification showing their current address such as a driver’s license, health card or government issued ID
- Notice of Assessment or Proof of Income Statement
